the strange and the orangey…

second visit to rasa malaysia~

this time, the food was still amazing (and for better prices save the fish which blew a HUGE hole in my pocket) but, the service was a bit strange.

It was the same pair of waiters, but i think it might have been because i went without my other friend (a regular there) so…we had ordered soya milk but only received half a glass each time! i don’t understand. but, other then that, i think it was fine…

anyway! today, i had a veryyyyy extravagant breakfast

grand marnier french toast with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and maple syrup on the side.

yummy subtle orange flavours~~~ just look at the steamy action (haha! cheap thrill, i know)

this was followed soon after by lunch…provencal tomatoes with toast.

not too pretty this time, but it’s simple and relatively quick~ \(‘-^)

 

so.ba, soo.ba, soooooo.BA!

one of my little snacks to have with tea~ it’s really TINY! about the size of a £1 coin (perfect size if it were an amuse bouche ^.~ ) . but it packs a real sugar punch! awfully sweet this one is…

ah, but the sugar is not doing much for me…am proper knackered now.

got up bright and early to read before meeting suzanne to eat myself silly at rasa. walked around as a tourist (which worked because i got sooooo many offers to help me get photos with buildings! lol!) then had people over for a ‘house-viewing’ xD and then had tea, followed by 3 rounds of shisha, before having more tea and literally breaking into a house then having even more tea to round things up.

now, i just want to vegetate abit before bed. so…yeah~

*snoozes*

maybe it’s because i’m all the way out here, but it’s not feeling like a special day for me~ (since i don’t get that public holiday xD )

choco frenzy!

Green & Black’s Organic Raisin and Hazelnut Chocolate (41%)

delicious~ it’s really creamy and unlike most raisin choco i’ve had (not particularly my fave, so mnnn =_= ) it wasn’t sickeningly sweet and actually has a good texture to it with the gummy raisin and crunchy nut. (^-^)b

Green & Black’s Organic White Chocolate (30% but really, it’s technically not even chocolate)

freckled with those itty bitty vanilla beans, this choco is absolutely brilliant! never really liked white choco before coming to the UK because it tasted like chalk to me. But now, after a party game that involved this choco, mittens, culery and a whole bunch of crazy students destressing…i really love white choco! (in moderation though) it’s smooth and the vanilla in this packs a real punch at the end too~

Green & Black’s Dark Chocolate (70%)

“Made with the finest Trinitario cocoa beans for an intense taste”

they weren’t kidding…

i very VERY muchly prefer the mildness of the Criollo bean so…yeah, learning to step it up and get used to this more ‘intense’ flavour…still, it’s got a beautiful colour with amazing sharp flavours.

AND and a bonus~! (hehehe, couldn’t help myself from getting one more bar that day~) Montezuma’s Organic Dark Chocolate infused with Orange & Geranium.

seriously.

geranium + orange in chocolate…SPECTACULAR! the chocolate’s got a lovely colour and is so so smooth. the flavours are so delicate and it just melts in your mouth at first bite~ the dark chocolate only kicks a bittttt later and even then, it’s very tame.

that’s all the choco i’d gotten on a mini splurge in town~ looking forward to my next mini splurge already! xD question is…what should i go for?! @.@

i never have cash on me…ever. (well hardly  ) so i’ve been walking pass a local bakery for the longest time, and only ever being able to afford the glorious smell of freshly baked bread (literally, it’s all baked on the premises~). but, i’ve finally made it a point to get some proper bread this time so after a quick visit to the cash machine…VOILA~

nice loaf of bread (and at 25cm in diameter, it’s humongous too! ) definitely will be back for more soon!

 

a.maize-ing!

 

haven’t had proper jagong in a long time~ (^-^);> so i bought some to grill in an unmentionable amount of butter and mnnnnnn…nami-nami goodness~! in the process of buying this amazing veggie though, i think i brought little bugs into the house *weeps* near where i had kept the maize, i found 3 itty bitty weevil like bugs! (T-T)

haix, what to do~? *squishes bugs*

 

 

anyhoo, there was yet another radio event down in town at L1 today~ (^_^) tons of activities around here lately…there was also a free arts demonstration along bold street! but, the main reason i was in town today was to buy a new toy!!!

hahaha, yeah, i’m probably the most boring person in the world…BUT i’m absolutely loving the new grater! it’s just a tad too efficient and almost took the tips off of my left index and middle fingers ^-^;

Focaccia for Breakfast & Lunch today~ 

I’ve been making these alot lately, tossing in strange toppings with the basic plain Focaccia recipe by Sawatans~ Its absolutely YUMMY! even more so because i’m learning not to be afraid of olive oil.

also also~ besides that…i think that there might have been a parade here recently on Saturday? 

 

 

there were tons of people and a marching band~! but, by the time i managed to suck it up and dangle out the window with the camera only this one guy was still there (^-^);>

kinda yummy really~ it’s really really VERY sweet for dark chocolate but the crunchy texture from the cacao nibs inside is wonderful!!
