capital of culture? hell yeah!

been ages since i’ve last been to a music festival (since baybeats in 2006 really ^-^; ) … so~ i couldn’t resist when my friend wanted to pop by too!

ok, ikky weather and tummy (long story later) resulted in one measly picture…but trust me, even if i took any others, all you’d see is a sea of people swaying (either to the music or from the booze). it’s awesome! i just wish some of my peeps were here too~ i mean, it’s as much about the company as it is the music at these festivals! we were there only for abit, but there was a band playing at the stage just outside the museum that rocked! we left only after they played their last tune~ (^_^)b

so anyhoo…i soon HAD to leave because my tummy was just NOT cooperating~ ran to pick up lunch and took a cab home m(_ _)m my moneyyyyyyyy!!!

haix…spent the whole day in bed since..

all because i let my untrained tummy attempt to digest WHOLE MILK (i’m slightly lactose intolerant), COCONUT MILK (not good at all in situations like these) and a ton of spicy but EXTREMELY delicious OTAK!

my housemate managed to put together a HUGE otak for dinner last night (photos will come when i’ve bothered to reach for the camera and my cable) and well…all of that food is still making my stomach turn.

SUCCESS!

i’ve been getting ahead of myself recently…

a) been getting ACTUAL work done

b) gotten rid of 3 full bags of clutter i’ve accumulated in the last year

c) stopped with the compulsive digestive munching

and like ridding oneself of any addiction, i tend to go on ‘withdrawal’ and need that distraction to make sure i don’t run to the nearest convenience store and blow my already measly allowance on more biscuits~

so!

hahaha, my method of distraction has successfully managed to accomplish this with the housemate 

well, not really~ but i’ll get photos of my mini-experiments uploaded soon enough ()

now, i’m just hoping the pictured housemates don’t find out i’ve uploaded this photo…LOL!

Focaccia for Breakfast & Lunch today~ 

I’ve been making these alot lately, tossing in strange toppings with the basic plain Focaccia recipe by Sawatans~ Its absolutely YUMMY! even more so because i’m learning not to be afraid of olive oil.

also also~ besides that…i think that there might have been a parade here recently on Saturday? 

 

 

there were tons of people and a marching band~! but, by the time i managed to suck it up and dangle out the window with the camera only this one guy was still there (^-^);>

yep yep~ kaiten-zushi! i was desperate for some unagi and since Yo Sushi! was having a summer discount special (40%) i figured it was a good chance to try out the restaurant. It was rather expensive though! 4 plates of food and one refillable cup of tea had left me £9 poorer after the discount

but! but! i had gotten my unagi-fix!

(i didn’t care how it tasted)

 

 

and there was poached salmon too~ which was ok except for the dill which usually is wonderful with salmon….but…doesn’t go particularly well with sushi rice. 

 

 

dessert followed soon after though…it was a Mango & Kiwi Cake that had melted under the intense spot lights that lined the conveyor belt (^-^); it didn’t taste like mango OR kiwi….kind of like a tangy mouthful of artificially sweetened mousse really…well, at least it looks pretty?

so! the dining atmosphere there was good…just~ i’m no sushi expert but i’m convinced that it could really do WAYYY better with the flavour of the sushi. however, there was a major lunch crowd so they must be doing something right…that said, i’m in no rush to go back anytime soon~

why…of all nights to have fallen asleep from shopping around too much…did it have to be the night the magics played fantastically?!

mnnn, went down to town today to get some groceries and…lookie lookie…

and i thought the singaporeans were kiasu…lol…13 stickers…THIRTEEN…xD

mnnn, i’ve also been thinking about things to do in summer. i was a little late in applying for museum work for this summer it seems and the next round of interviews will be in september…m(_ _)m so that’s sorta not going to happen now…the BM forwarded my application, but i doubt that will be any different from the other museums…so…T-T i’m thinking it’s back to Gilds for me…running odd jobs here and there is still better then nothing. 

once i get back from turin, it’s off to work for me…no pottery, no riding…will sit down and get research redone for the dissertation with part time work on the side. 

but…i’m looking to learn how to drive this summer now…(^-^);> and i’m the kind that crashes into the wall the minute i get into the car in the arcade…oh dear lord…help me…

it’ll be veryyyy useful getting around in…i can’t cycle for days just to get to a secluded dig site in the middle of nowhere i suppose…i’m thinking it’s either learning to drive or photography (the camera and it’s lens costs JUST as much as the driving lessons and tests do) and well, while both will be useful, i suppose one option is more practical at the moment…i can always learn photography on the field when i need to. 

*fingers crossed* we’ll see…have a few more procedures then usual because i’m not local, so hopefully everything will go smoothly.

 was bored today as always…so i pulled out the sculpy…and made some faces (^-^);> 

you can’t see anything, but they have mouths too xD 

this is just about as creative i can get…m(_ _)m faillll~ i made a cast of my finger…lol, the utter dryness of my skin makes for some interesting texture (^__^)b although i don’t quite know what to do with these once they’ve gone into the oven…we’ll see~ i’ve got some acrylics and glaze anyhoo~ just gotta get my brush back from jen first…

 

oh oh oh~ i’ll be helping to paint a mural for a kids center next week (it’s apparently an under-the-sea themed one)…i love the opportunity to get messy~ first step to ridding pre-summer boredom and return a little to the community i’ve grown to love!

and i’ve never been more bored.. (^-^);

it’s only been 6 hours since the last paper ended and already i’ve run out of things to keep myself busy…will pop by town tomorrow of friday to the job/volunteer agency to get some stuff worked out to make the resume look good. (^_^)b

gonna be in manchester sometime this weekend to look into things…and if i can squeeze in some time, chester too~! will begin sorting out my research information again next week before leaving for turin…TURIN! finally…lol, been itching to fly over since i arrived in 2007. just ask the housemates~! xD

as for the rest of summer (besides a job and volunteer work hopefully) i’ll have to start with the French language again…that and hieroglyphs are on the top of my list~ i will hopefully practice some japanese and mandarin on the side…ahhh~ it’s gonna be a terribly linguistic-ie summer. i’ve been considering some outdoorsy stuff like riding or pottery (by outdoorsy i mean out of the house xP ) but that will have to wait till i find the moolah!

other then that, i’ve only got plans for when school begins! if things go my way, i’ll be interviewing for a summer museum internship in september, working on the dissertation while ‘mentoring’ the freshers…hahaha, i promised i’ll try to be nice~

ahhhh, i’m far from being an alcoholic…i just like hanging about vegetating and if there arn’t any affordable starbucks, TCCs or any other cafes to hang out at…why not the pub? lol, i’ve upgraded from having orange juice (last year) to this…this year…

the glory that is pimm’s…i HEART! it doesn’t taste alcoholic and is only a litttttttle carbonated tasting…bad cause if you drink it too fast…WHAM! lol…i’m terrible with alcohol lar…which is brilliant because i don’t need to spend alot of cash to get drunk if and when i want or need to

mnnn…been busy…been sooooooo busy…

HDD died and took my assignments with it (which thankfully is proving to be good news because if it didn’t, i would have handed in a SHOT report as i’m learning this very minute…PHEW!)

i did brilliantly well on my last osteoarchaeology assignment that even earned a ‘fantastic’ from the lecturer who attacks us like a rabbid dog on smack for the smallest issues. so i think that’s quite an achievement…

i just hope i do as well in the exams less then 2 weeks from now which i have yet to even GLANCE at because redoing these essays are taking more time then i predicted…what with the books being impossible to locate and my brain shutting down for 2-3 days on end because of the NBA…(GO MAGIC!!!)

*ahem*

been in a relatively bite-ie mood lately too…it’s not the all round GRRRR thing…but it’s targeted at certain people…i don’t know why…you know when you suddenly notice all of a person’s faults and read into all of their actions…negatively? i don’t know why…

well…i do…kinda…

i find it nice that people like me spending time with them, but when i say i’m busy with work…I AM busy WITH work for god’s sake…i like my coffee time as well…they then take it out on my work…

DO I?!?!?! i’m sorry you’re never around when i’m taking a break from workbut…i really don’t like to be interrupted when i’m actually on a roll and get indirectly accused of being anti-social (which, to begin with, i am sorta anyway!).

am i not allowed to have other friends…i’ve been through this before and it didn’t end well…even after close to 5 years, we’re still not as close as before…argh! am i THAT bad a friend? 

this is why i sometimes like being by myself…i don’t have to answer to anyone.

haix, i HAVE to remember…that at the end of the day…i am here to study! those are MY priorities. i’m not going to risk it because i want to be popular or whatever…those are my work ethics, and i really wish some people could understand that.

ok…*breathe* ranting’s done…i’m gonna go and try to get back into working mode now…but not before i do this…
